This is Weston!
I am such a sucker for the handsome male yellow labs! I think he is adorable and I love this one paw up thing that he is doing in the picture. He is currently in for breeder evals and so far has been passing all of his tests!
This is Sake!
She is a very small little sweet golden. This picture is of her first day in the kennel so she was still a little unsure about the place. I believe she was CC'd out of the puppy raising home.
This is Leigh!
She is still going through her breeder evals. Her sister Lana was spayed last week and after she has recovered, she will enter the next string of training.
This is Oprah!
She is still a young puppy who was CC'd out of the puppy home. The CWT's have been working with her daily to have better manners and teaching her a few tricks for fun. After she learned what the clicker was for, she was taught how to play dead. Point at her and say bang and she falls right over. We have also been doing a lot of recall work with her and to up the challenge, we added a dog distraction. An intact male named Newport came in for breeder evals and he was absolutely perfect with the puppy. We let them play together in the community run area and worked on her recall. He played extremely appropriately with her and when a CWT called for Opera to come, he stopped what he was doing and it sure didn't take long for her to learn what was expected of her. Unfortunately Newport will not become a breeder because he didn't pass his eye exam due to cataracts. He sure would have made some amazing guide pups. He was CC'd and his raisers came to pick him up. He is going to live out the rest of his life as a beloved pet.

Thank you for posting about Weston. He is offspring from my Forte, I was wondering if the W litter was going to come in soon!
ReplyDeleteI got to puppy sit Weston once! He was such a sweet, calm boy. I'm glad he's doing so well!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting about my boy Newport :) It is so nice to hear that he was such a good boy with the puppies there! He is thoroughly enjoying life as a pet,and is continuing his mentoring job with my new guide dog puppy in training, Keith!
ReplyDeleteFullerlife: I absolutely remember Forte! He is one of those dogs that I have stuck in my memory. I definitely took him out quite a few times while I was working there. He is responsible for those two chocolates right?
ReplyDeleteCarrie's Raiser: Weston is doing fantastic! He is such a good dog! And, as I said before, I am a sucker for the handsome yellow males!
GDBpuppy: Newport is such a fantastic dog! He was only in the kennels for a short time, but he sure did capture everyone's heart while he was in there! Many intact males who come in are sometimes a bit more high strung than than the rest of the dog population. But Newport was so incredibly well behaved and so handsome! The morning that he went in for his eye exam and we learned that he had to be dropped, you should have heard everyone's disappointment! We were all rooting for him!
Really enjoy reading your posts. And I love all of your photos, they are great! If you see Vienna around fill her up with love for me.
ReplyDeleteWeston is pretty darn adorable! And I have really high standards for male yellow labs now. Haha! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's great about Lana! We're hoping one of those Ls will be a breeder. They're doing so well for a golden litter. Almost all of them have returned for training. :)
Yes, Forte is partly responsible for the two chocolates (Arizona is responsible for the other half.) I hope Forte sticks in your memory because he was a good boy and not because of being a barker in the kennels...sadly something that want not uncommon with the rest of his siblings and dad. He's been bred a lot and I think it's watching the success of his pups now. Thank you for posting about the dogs, it is fun to read.
